Privacy, in plain language
Relationship questions can be deeply personal. This notice explains the data path before you decide what to share.
What we collect
If you create an account, we store your email, display name, credit balance, questions, selected cards, and generated readings. Before sign-in, a question started on a landing page is kept in your browser session so it does not need to appear in the URL. We also keep your latest reading draft, including its cards, question and any completed interpretation, on this browser so you can resume after a refresh. The draft is used for 24 hours and is removed when you start another reading. This includes any follow-up questions and answers, and a submitted follow-up question if a response is interrupted. This is separate from saving a reading to your account.
How a reading is generated
Your question, selected spread, card positions, and drawn cards are sent to our AI service provider to generate your interpretation. For a follow-up, the original interpretation and earlier turns are also sent so the answer can use the same context. Do not enter information you are not comfortable having processed for this purpose.
Payments and analytics
Stripe processes payment details; Fateful Deck does not receive your complete card number. Vercel Analytics records product events such as starting a question, drawing cards, or completing a reading. We do not include the full text of your question in those analytics events.
Private and public readings
Saved readings are private by default. Follow-up conversations are stored separately and are only available to the account that saved them; sharing the original reading does not make its follow-up conversation public. Share cards, both in your current reading and in saved history, creates an image of the cards with a link to the website. It does not include your question or interpretation and does not create a public reading. In saved history, the separate Public reading link option requires your explicit confirmation before publishing your question, cards and full interpretation. Anyone with that link can view the original reading. You can close the public link in history to stop new access; copies or screenshots already made cannot be recalled. Publishing again creates a new link.
Your choices
You can use Fateful Deck without creating an account. For access, correction, or deletion requests, use Support inside the application. We retain account and transaction records only as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
